Dive Supervisor

My name is Nahuel; I am a Dive Instructor from Argentina. My diving career started in Brazil and since then I have never stopped diving. I have been working with the Yukon Dive family at the fabulous Poor Knights Marine Reserve since 2019. We are really lucky to have such an office! The Poor Knights Marine Reserve is a great place for diving for all levels of experience and the marine life is amazing.
It always amazes me that less than 10 years ago I was completely unaware of anything related to the sea. And by a mere chance I got to start working in the dive industry only as a deckhand in Brazil. After many months of training I became a DM and I was stoked the first time I got to guide my first group. Also the first time I gave a course after becoming an instructor!
Expanding horizons…
But I felt my horizons need some expanding, that changed when I moved to the great barrier Reef in Australia, and also had the chance to experience the giant cuttlefish migration in Whyalla, SA. After that the need to experience different places and cultures kicked in and luckily I’ve also been in the Salomon Islands, Fiji, Thailand and Indonesia.
Poor Knights Diving…
Each place is completely different from the other, the marine life, cultures and landscapes. Then I had the opportunity to work in NZ in 2019 with Yukon Dive. Getting to know the fabulous Poor Knights! This place is simply unbelievable! Being a temperate environment makes it quite different from all the tropical places I’ve been. (But not as cold as Whyalla with its 10° in winter, that’s chilly!)
Back to the Poor Knights Diving and I’m fascinated by how life changes depending on what season it is. Whether it is autumn when everything slows down a bit but gives you chance to enjoy specific residents. Or spring when warm currents coming all the way from Australia bring tropical life that is not expected by many divers. Like the time Mary Carney found the first Moorish Idol in continental NZ waters! That really blew my mind! Seeing something for the first time in history!
So, I look forward to meeting you soon to show you these fabulous islands! Come and see us, you can check out what to expect on one of our trips here Poor Knights Dive Trip
