Liveaboard Diving Trip Details

  • A Poor Knights liveaboard diving trip is an economical and fun way to enjoy as much diving as possible.
  • First off, we meet at 8.00am on the first day of the trip.  Load gear, complete the paperwork, sight cert cards/log books and after a safety briefing we get underway
  • You will have the opportunity to dive up to 4 dives on the first day.  On the last day of the trip there will be up to 3 dives.
  • As we move around the dive sites you will get the change to enjoy the beautiful sights above the water at the Poor Knights.  The Islands are home to stunning arches.  We take the boat into Riko Riko Cave (weather permitting). At anchor you are welcome to jump on a kayak and go for a paddle around.
  • Poor Knights Islands are a Nature reserve.  It is strictly forbidden to go ashore.
  • Returning to Tutukaka around 4-5pm on the last day

Liveaboard diving Accommodation

  • Sleeping arrangements are split over 4 double berths (ideal for couples or friends who don’t mind sharing) and then the remainder is shared on mattresses in the saloon, like a sleepover with mates.
  • We also provide fresh clean bedding and 1 towel per person
  • But we do not have separate cabins onboard
  • There are no hair dryers onboard and we are unable to allow their use so please do not bring your own.
  • And there is a seperate men’s and women’s toilet onboard.
  • And an outdoor shower located on the back deck.  It’s not private and best used in a bathing suit but it’s nice and warm.

Catering

  • We provide and prepare all your food for the journey.
  • But do not supply alcoholic beverages or soft drinks, so you can bring your favourite chocolate bar or drink along with you.
  • If you have any special dietary requirements we need to know 7 days prior to the trip.
  • We can cater for minor changes to our menu, however there maybe an additional charge depending on your requirements.

Liveaboard diving experience and training options

  • Evidence of your dive certification will be required
  • The 4th dive of any day is a night dive for AOW certified divers and above
  • But if you are Open Water certified that is fine.  You will be able to do the night dive additional training with one of our Instructors.  This will cost $250 per person, or perhaps you could consider the AOW Course.  Please note it is essential to let us know in advance if you wish to do either of these.
  • PADI Advanced Open Water training available – $600 per person (additional to trip price)
  • Also, if your last dive was over 12 months ago we will require you to do a Refresher.  You can do this in advance or with one of our Instructors on the first dive.  A Refresher with us will cost an additional $150 per person.
  • Safety is our priority so please do not ask us to compromise on this – you maybe disappointed with the response you receive 🙂
